Description: Light blue, round, biconvex, film-coated tablets marked 5 on one side; colourless oral solution.
Presentation: Tablets: 30, €5.18. Oral solution: Price available on request.
Indications: Symptoms of allergic rhinitis, urticaria.
Pharmacology: Desloratadine is a non-sedating, long-acting histamine antagonist with selective peripheral H1-receptor antagonist activity.
Dosage: Adult: One tablet or 10ml once a day. Children: Over 12 years, as per adults (limited experience). Under 12 years, tablets not recommended. 1-5 years, 2.5ml once a day. 6-11 years, 5ml once a day. Under 1 year, oral solution not recommended.
Contraindications: Hypersensitivity to the active substance, to any of the excipients or to loratadine.
Special precautions: Severe renal insufficiency (caution). Pregnancy, lactation (not recommended). Driving/using machines. Oral solution contains sorbitol.
Drug interactions: None reported.
Adverse drug reactions: Over 12 years old: Fatigue, dry mouth, headache. Children 6-23 months: Diarrhoea, fever, insomnia.
